Job Summary

This position will support the B-1 System Program Office (SPO) as a liaison between the engineering and structural teams in matters of B-1 logistics and maintenance issues.  This position will specifically manage the fleet health assessment schedule making recommendations for the SPO to Air Force Global Strike Command Logistics Directorate on aircraft scheduling and movements. This position will assist in assessments of maintenance processes and procedures, life cycle management, systems integration and installation, and design of aircraft maintenance procedures in support of the B-1 aircraft lifecycle maintenance and modification efforts.  This position will assist the Government structural engineering and integration teams with the critical assessment, program management, planning, resource allocation and general project completion leading to mission success. These tasks include facilitating project activities between the SPO and the performers. The candidate will provide expert maintainer process support, technical program recommendations, and specialized expertise with aircraft weapons systems logistics. This position will work directly with B-1 Engineering Branch leadership as a member of the aircraft integration development team. 

Essential Job Functions

  • Assist in providing detailed technical leadership for all activities and phases of structural integration (requirements, design, development, and certification/approvals), including leading the fleet health assessments and scheduling of the B-1 fleet for depot maintenance, structures maintenance and modification upgrades.
  • Support the Engineering Branch in program execution and management
  • Support reviews with the Engineering Branch and other SPO leadership as required
  • Provide expertise and guidance to the requirements and risk management processes and coordinate with the Integrated Master Schedule and management metrics
  • Assist the Program Office in managing costs and delivering a quality aircraft/project on time.
  • Provide solutions, products, or services based on research findings, interpretation, and analysis.


Qualifications

The ideal candidate possesses a good understanding and working knowledge of sound maintenance processes, including flight-line operations, manpower and resource management, safety and certification policies, and established operational practices.

  • BS degree – either a major in or 24 semester equivalent hours in any of the following fields: accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods or organization and management is preferred.
  • 20+ years applicable experience with aircraft maintenance, aircraft production, quality control, and  DoD systems engineering policies, procedures, and organizations
  • Experience and understanding of DoD 5000.01 and associated regulatory and statutory requirements including application of updates addressing accelerated acquisition
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products
  • Experience and strong understanding in the areas of B-1 system maintenance, logistics, and acquisitions
  • Active (or ability to obtain) SECRET clearance
