Job Summary
This position will support the B-1 System Program Office by providing on-site, subject matter expert support to the 337th Test and Evaluation Squadron, at Dyess AFB, TX. Working for the B-1 SPO in coordination with the 337TES Commander, the Engineering Manager is responsible to assist in the test design, planning, execution, analysis, reporting, and documentation related to programs requiring Operational Testing on the B-1 Bomber. This is a 100% direct labor position that will require intermittent travel within the Continental US.
Essential Job Functions
v Work in concert with the 337TES, B-1 System Program Office (SPO), Air Force Global Strike Command, and the B-1 user community to assist in the development of aircraft and mission planning requirements.
v Participate in Crew Station Working Groups (CSWGs); provide feedback to the B-1 SPO and prime contractors concerning aircraft modifications.
v Create and/or review documents including drawings, tech orders, test plans, requirements documents, specifications, technical data, airworthiness packages, certification documents for governing authorities.
v Create and/or review ground/flight test documentation including plans, procedures, analysis, and reports.
v Provide support for validation and verification of hardware, software, and technical documents.
v Assist with coordination with all test activities to keep assigned test programs on schedule.
v Provide support for on- and off-site B-1 testing, including lab test, ground and flight testing, and mission planning evaluations.
v Attend recurring meetings supporting the 337TES program responsibilities, as directed by the 337TES/CC.
v Participate in the B-1 SPO Integrated Test Team for both periodic virtual and face-to-face meetings.
v Provide assessments, recommendations, and technical expertise.
v Travel to multiple locations within CONUS.
Qualifications
v BS or Master’s engineering degree required from an accredited college or university.
v Ten (10) years’ experience as a B-1 Weapons Systems Operator (WSO) or Pilot; acquisition and B-1 test experience preferred.
v Demonstrated skill in conceiving, planning and conducting research in problem areas of considerable scope and complexity, requiring unconventional or novel approaches and sophisticated research techniques.
v Demonstrated ability to make decisions independently on maintenance and logistics engineering problems and methods,and to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate work.
v Strong Organizational and Project Management skills.
v Must have current Top Secret security clearance.
