Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated Software Developer – QA Regression Tester to join our small but growing QA team. This is a unique opportunity to help build regression (“alpha”) testing from the ground up for a mission-critical software product supporting Proficiency-Based Training & Readiness (PBT&R) within the Department of Defense.

This role is a blank canvas: you will design, implement, and lead regression testing strategies, establish automation frameworks, and collaborate with developers, SMEs, and beta testers to ensure product quality and mission readiness. Essential Job Functions

  • Develop, implement, and evolve the company’s regression testing (alpha testing) strategy.
  • Design and execute automated test suites using tools such as Katalon or similar frameworks.
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure effective integration of QA processes into the development lifecycle.
  • Propose and evaluate testing tools, secure approval for adoption, and lead their implementation.
  • Work closely with beta testers and SMEs to ensure smooth handoff from alpha (regression) to beta (operational) testing.
  • Participate in cross-functional team meetings and collaborate across development, QA, and SME groups.
  • Provide input on long-term QA process improvements as the team grows.
  • Occasional travel to support offsite meetings and/or data collection events (~once per quarter).


Qualifications

  • ~5 years of experience in software development and/or QA engineering.
  • Strong programming skills with proficiency across multiple languages.
  • Proven experience designing or executing regression testing strategies.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one automation tool or suite (e.g., Katalon, Playwright, Selenium, etc.).
  • Strong QA mindset with attention to detail and a passion for building robust systems.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
  • Comfortable working remotely with strong communication and collaboration skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ex-military background or experience working with military systems.
  • Familiarity with systems engineering principles (requirements traceability, interface design, etc.).
  • Experience in small-team environments where initiative and independence are highly valued.
  • Prior experience working with DoD software systems.



Education

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field preferred, but not required. Equivalent professional experience will be considered.
