Aerospace Quality Engineer

With the right qualifications and skills, you're invited to join our hard-working but fun-loving team.  We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quality Engineer to be responsible for ensuring the quality of our products and procedures through rigorous inspections, implementation of quality control measures, and identification of areas for improvement. This person will be responsible for developing a complete QA program that not only safeguards the quality of our products, but also fosters a culture in which all employees are actively engaged in guaranteeing it. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to address quality issues, drive continuous improvement, and contribute to building high-quality products that exceed customer expectations. This is also a high-touch position with frequent interactions with manufacturing, engineering, suppliers, and customers.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Defining, documenting, and enforcing quality process best practices for the engineering and manufacturing of aerospace hardware
  • Provide input to design engineering to build-in quality to product designs
  • Build first article inspection plans for verifying that the initial products from a production run meet all engineering and design requirements before full-scale manufacturing begins
  • Establish and implement inspection procedures and standards
  • Determine quality requirements for product and outside service provider definition
  • Perform external provider quality audits for maintaining product quality, minimizing risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance within the supply chain
  • Support manufacturing readiness review, test readiness review, and production readiness review meetings with customers and suppliers
  • Lead nonconformance and material review process for maintaining quality standards, ensuring compliance, minimizing risks, and fostering continuous improvement within an organization.
  • Perform receiving inspection on incoming materials and components to verify conformance with specifications
  • Validate product quality through rigorous inspection and verification methods
  • Document and verify that all process steps meet established specifications
  • Perform source inspection activities at external provider locations
  • Remain flexible with daily activities in order to handle emergency issues as they arrive

 

Relevant Experience and Requirements:

    • 5-10 years of experience in aerospace quality engineering and/or inspection
    • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline plus five (5) years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Understanding of modern inspection and quality inspection tools and techniques
    • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneDrive, SharePoint) products
    • Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail
    • Excellent communication skills and active listening with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
    • Good people and conflict resolution skills
    • Development Assurance Excellence (Develop and follow the required processes and verifications)
    • Proactive Approach (Meeting deadlines, presenting improvements, driving improvement plans)
    • Proven knowledge in quality standards & tools (e.g., RCCA, 8D, Ishikawa, 5 whys, APQP/PPAP/ AS9100)

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Aerospace industry experience
    • Certification or deep experience with AS9100/ISO9001 and other aerospace quality assurance methods
    • Ability to hit the ground running and make an immediate impact with minimal supervision

     

    Travel Requirements:

    • Occasional local and national travel to oversee supplier quality operations
    • Interoffice travel between Thousand Oaks, CA and Victorville, CA may be required

    Pay:   Salary $100,000-$130,000 DOE

     

    Note about pay range: Pay range for this job level is a general guideline for California and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.

    Job Schedule: 9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days – totaling 80 hours worked – and have every other Friday off
